The Melissourgos Tower is one of the most historic and captivating landmarks in Attica, standing proudly since the 17th century. According to local legend, it was built on the very spot where one of 45 sacrificial sheep was miraculously preserved—thanks to the area’s unique microclimate. Blending Gothic architecture with the rugged traditions of Mani in the Peloponnese, the tower is a rare and striking testament to Greece’s layered past.

Originally a fortified manor with battlements, the tower served as a base for Greek patriots during the Ottoman occupation. Centuries later, during World War II, it was seized by German forces and used as a military headquarters—leaving behind haunting relics and echoes of a turbulent era.

Scattered across the estate are three historic chapels, including the 16th-century Church of Saint Demetrios. Through the years, the tower has welcomed notable figures from Greece and abroad, and has been featured in iconic films and television productions.
Today, the Melissourgos Tower remains in the care of the descendants of its original owners. Its timeless beauty and atmosphere steeped in history, mystery, and romance made it the perfect setting for our wedding—a place where the past and present meet to celebrate love and new beginnings.

NOTE: Our celebration will take place outdoors, surrounded by nature and plenty of thin grass—think olive trees, open skies, and that perfect Mediterranean breeze.
We recommend you don’t wear thin heels, as they may sink into the grass. Wedges, block heels, or dressy flats are all great options for enjoying the day comfortably.
In November, Athens typically enjoys mild autumn weather, with daytime temperatures ranging from 15–20°C (59–68°F) and cooler evenings.
We suggest formal attire that’s also weather-aware—think suits and elegant dresses, with an extra layer or shawl for when the sun goes down.
